Final Coach Intro for Summer 2022: Roger Aspholm. Final Coach Intro for Summer 2022: Roger Aspholm.

Roger has raced and coached for several decades. He founded the FinKraft Cycling Team in 2010. The team is now one of the New York metropolitan area’s premier master’s teams. The team has grown exponentially since and now consists of 4 different divisions with about 50 athletes on the team: Road Men, Off-Road, a separate Women’s Team, and a Multi- Sport Team (running and triathlon). The team competes in amateur races held mostly in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, but also attends the US National Championships in the disciplines of road, Cx, MTB and team members occasionally attends Masters Worlds. Roger just recently returned from leading another very successful road training camp in Italy (shadowing several stages of the Giro), and is the Lead Coach for EuroCrossAcademy, most recently during the kerstperiodes of 2019 and 2021 in Belgium.

ECA Director Geoff Proctor on Roger: "Roger and I have been working together for a few years now. He's one of the best cyclocross minds out there. His team [FinKraft], the riders he coaches, his guidance in Vermont & Belgium--all first-rate. For example, to watch him break down a course during pre-ride is so informative for the athletes. And, at the end of the day, his selflessness and care in giving back best embody ECA's ethos."

Next up: ECA is really excited to extend its geogr Next up: ECA is really excited to extend its geographic reach and the sharing of new ideas by welcoming Oklahoma Flyers Coach Tanner Culbreath to VermontCrossCamp this July. Tanner is a veteran Oklahoma teacher and has been involved in cycling and coaching for over 15 years. First as a high school cross country coach for 10 years (cycling on the side), and then starting the youth development team @oklahoma_flyers in 2012. He's been riding and racing for the past 20 years as an amateur, but recently focused on working with local youth to get them involved and competitive in cycling. Tanner is also a race promoter, hosting 5 years of UCI level cyclocross events in Oklahoma (Ruts N Guts), as well as gravel events, and grass roots practice events that help riders gain more experience in the fun and competitive realm of cycling.

@tjculbreath : "As a local coach and athlete, I am excited to be a part of ECA and not only share knowledge that I have gained over the years as a coach, but also be ready to take on new knowledge from the other athletes and coaches. I love working within the sport of cyclocross because time invested in technique and skill directly relates to race speed. I also love to always be thinking of new ways to challenge the riders each time I build out a race course for our local events!”

And huge thanks to Mike Wozniak @asoundpony for his help in making this ECA-OK connection a reality!

ECA super proud to continue working w Curtis White ECA super proud to continue working w Curtis White this summer at VermontCrossCamp. A relationship that started at @eurocrosscamp 2011 when Curtis was a first-year MJR. In addition to being our country's best performer on the world stage, @curtisjwhite works tirelessly for the sport--as a mentor, podcaster, clinician, and all-around awesome ambassador for our beloved cycling discipline.

Curtis has raced for the @cdalecxworld team for the last nine seasons, is a member of the @usacycling National Cyclocross Team, and currently lives in Beverly, MA. For a number of years, Curtis has balanced his cyclocross ambitions with racing professionally on the road and pursuing a degree from Union College. He holds a B.A. in Classics with a minor in Law and Humanities. Now, Curtis’ main focus is on Cx and he is invested in helping develop the next generation or US Cx racers. Curtis is a former Pan-Am Continental Champion, 3x silver medal winner at the Pro US National Championships, scored 12th at the 2022 Cyclocross World Championships, and is an alumnus of EuroCrossCamp, MontanaCrossCamp, and USAC development.

Curtis: “After already being part of EuroCrossAcademy as both an athlete and a coach, I am excited to join Geoff again in his efforts to develop the next generation of American cyclocross racers! I think cyclocross in the US has strong momentum, and the crop of young athletes coming through the ranks has an opportunity to be competitive at the national and international stage. I look forward to sharing my experiences with these talented young athletes, and I hope to give them some of the needed tools to reach the next level.”

ECA thrives on working w athletes & coaches over t ECA thrives on working w athletes & coaches over time. The resulting consistency & even-handed approach across the years embody the best principles of--upper case--Development. Allison Lancaster (formerly Arensman) represents well this ethos as this will be her 6th summer coaching with ECA, in addition to serving as ECA's SafeSport representative.

@allisonrea_ has been building her Cx level since 2015, netting several WU23 national titles & UCI elite podiums over her career.

While earning her BS in Exercise Science & Coaching minor from Brevard College in 2016, she rode on scholarship & netted both individual and national collegiate team titles with the school’s varsity squad in Cx, Road & MTB disciplines. As well, in 2016, she was one of six young US women to be named to the inaugural WU23 Cx Worlds team.

In her final pro season of 2021-22, Allison raced for the @velorevolution_wpcycles UCI Cx team, based in Belgium, and she is very excited to transition her functional and competitive knowledge into coaching with ECA and full-time with Studio7Multisport.

Allison: "This past February, I retired after 8 years at the professional level; racing my final UCI season in the trenches of the hardest European Cx races.
Having spent the last 8 years competing in both North America and Europe with different UCI programs, and with the national team as a U-23, I am excited to transition my knowledge and energy into coaching full time. I’m again looking forward to joining ECA as a coach for a 6th year to build the next competitive & community-oriented generation."
On deck this week: intros for all of our incredibl On deck this week: intros for all of our incredible summer 2022 VermontCrossCamp coaches:

First up: ECA really excited to work again w Caitlin Curran Bernstein!
Caitlin came to cyclocross with a diverse athletic background, having spent her childhood summers on her mountain bike and winters ski racing in Vermont. Caitlin raced for the University of Vermont D1 Ski Team, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.

Bay-area work as a recruiter for Strava brought her back into bike racing and a steady rise up the cyclocross ranks culminating with a series of firsts in her '21-'22 breakout season. She raced her first world cups, consistently rode as a top 5 North American, placed 3rd at Pan-Am Championships, and earned her first opportunity to race Worlds in Fayetteville as part of Team USA.

In the summer months, @caitlincbernstein competes in gravel & mountain bike races for the @eastoncycling #eastonoverland team/ @cyclesdevinci and works remotely as a Senior Talent Partner for Career Karma.

Caitlyn: "I'm competitive and I love training hard, racing and chasing results in cycling, but I find even more fulfillment in sharing these experiences with others and having a positive impact on those around me. I see ECA as a great opportunity to connect with younger riders and share my learnings from life & athletics. I'm really looking forward to coaching at VermontCrossCamp (which also happens to take place in my hometown of Waitsfield, VT) again this summer!”
